Photography | Izabella Demavlys, "Without a face"
Powerful \ Troubling.
"In the fall of 2009 I left for Pakistan to start a project around acid and kerosene oil burn victims. I worked with a non-governmental foundation called Depilex Smile Again Foundation which helps burned women with reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and therapy.
There are currently over 400 women waiting for reconstructive surgery after acid attacks in Lahore, Pakistan."

Photography | Showcase: Too Busy for Leisure
"It wouldn’t be difficult to make fun of old people cheerleading in sequined leotards. But Kendrick Brinson’s images of Sun City, Ariz., are not harsh.
Her nuanced, color-saturated photographs — many of which recall the work of Martin Parr — sometimes depict the absurd."

Photography | On Assignment: A Perilous Route to Marja
"A concrete corner of a demolished building juts from the earth out of what appears to be the middle of nowhere. In its sturdy solitude, perhaps — at another time or place — it could be a monument to a great war, a solemn reminder of destruction and loss. But on this day it provided cover from sniper fire. Or shade. Or both. This is Marja."

Photography | Showcase: Leisure as a National Mirror
“How do you capture a nation?” Simon Roberts asked. Here’s how he did it: with a 4-by-5 camera and a recreational vehicle. Mr. Roberts traveled across England in 2007 and 2008, photographing his countrymen among green expanses, wide beaches and shifting skies.
